32 Weeks

How far along?  32 weeks.  How in the world did I get to be 8 months pregnant??  Actually, on second thought, don't answer that..

Total weight gain?  +26 pounds (Yes somehow I gained 6 pounds in two weeks.  I blame the fact that I was wearing boots on the scale and had a full bladder)

Maternity clothes?  Leggings, jeggings, jeans (one pair) and sweater dresses.  Starting to discover that some of my longer pre-pregnancy sweaters still fit, thanks goodness.

Stretch marks?  None yet.

Symptoms?  Hiccurps are still a constant presence in my life, however the heartburn hasn't been quite as bad, swelling (wearing my rings less and less), mood swings (sorry Hubs :( ), and symptoms that Lord I hope are just pregnancy brain, otherwise I'm just losing it.

Sleep:  Still not so great, but now I find myself passing out pretty early after long days at work.

Best moment this week:  There's no way I can pick just one between the time I got to spend with the fam and good friends.
Lots of great moments that I miss already.

Miss anything?  Being able to fit between tight spaces.  Out at lunch last week with a new coworker, I tried walking around one side of a table closest to the wall and I could not get through at all.  I had to turn around and walk around the other side of the table. Needless to say it was a bit embarrassing  and even though it was needless, I did actually say "This is embarassing."

Movement:  A lot but now it seems to be a bit more cramped in there.  In a meeting today I could actually see my stomach moving and wondered if anyone else noticed.

Gender:  TBD.

Labor Signs:  None

Belly button in or out?  My outle is starting to flatten out, as if the rest of my stomach is finally catching up to it.

Exercise:  Shuffling, pushups and dips.  Still gotta try to fit in some yoga.

Looking forward to:  Dinner with good friends we don't get to see too often tonight, i
nfant care class this weekend so we can (at least sort of) feel like we know what we're doing, and the Ravens-Steelers game on Sunday.

31 Weeks

How far along?  31 weeks.  Due date is exactly 2 months from today.  That is cray.

Total weight gain?  +20 pounds as of 30 week appt

Maternity clothes?  Had a pregnancy reality check last week when it was a really cold day and I tried putting on my puffer coat for the first time this season.  Could.not.zip.it.up.  Womp womp.  So I broke down and bought a maternity one from Old Navy, basically getting the cheapest one I could find considering I really should only need it for a month or two.

Stretch marks?  None yet.

Symptoms?  Hiccurps (my word, look it up) like a mo fo, and heartburn seems to be getting worse.  I bought Tums for the first time in my life. I guess this is going to be a hairy baby, not surprising.  Swelling in my hands is getting more frequent, too.  I think it might be time to break down and buy some faux wedding rings because my school ring has been my substitute on days when my real rings don't fit, and I'm afraid it makes me look like an unwed teen mom.

Sleep:  Thinking it's not going to get any better any time soon.  I think the soreness in my hips wakes me up more than my bladder does.  Even the pillow between the knees trick isn't working as well anymore.

Best moment this week:  I don't know if it was the best but a nice moment this week was at Target when a complete stranger told me how cute she thought I was dressed.  I was thinking like, "Yeah, still go it."

Miss anything?  Having any sort of control of my emotions.  After a rough day at work yesterday, I started feeling bad for myself and overwhelmed and I could not stop crying to save my life.  I realize how blessed I am and most of the time I'm really happy about that fact, but I still have my moments.

Movement:  Still tons.

Gender:  TBD.

Labor Signs:  None

Belly button in or out?  Still trying to be an innie, but mostly an outie.

Exercise:  Still shufflin, just not LMFAO style (i.e. every day).  More like 3 times a week.  I try to also throw in push-ups (until my belly hits the floor) and dips almost every day.

Looking forward to:  NORTH CAROLINA!!!  Leaving tonight and I cannot wait!!!

Is This What Nesting Looks Like?

Last weekend, I needed to go to Target for two main reasons:  1) return some things 2) buy thank you cards.  I don't know what happened and I might've blacked out for a little while there, but when I got home my trunk looked like this:

I had bought out half of their Home Organization department and there was not a single thank you card in sight. Oopsies.  I think this must be what they mean by nesting (and let's also throw pregnancy brain in there while we're at it).

Engaged vs Pregnant

It wasn't too long ago (actually about 15 months ago to be exact) that I was an engaged lady rather than a married and pregnant one.  Something I'm sure every engaged woman has noticed is that once someone finds out about your new relationship status, a pattern in the questions you get asked soon emerges.

Well now that I'm pregnant (and it shows) I've noticed there is a very similar pattern of go-to standard pregnancy questions and conversation.  So much so that I thought it worth a side-by-side comparison:

Both very exciting times, and people very excited for you, but this is a totally different world, that is fo sho!

30 Weeks

How far along?  30 weeks.  Holy crap, y'all, we are in the 30s.  S is getting real.

Total weight gain?  +20 pounds

Maternity clothes?  Again the top above is regular (non-maternity) tunic from LOFT, also wearing regular leggings, Old Navy maternity jeggings, and one pair of jeans that still fit (I looked at the label and the sizing said "Curvy".  Curvy indeed).

Stretch marks?  None yet; I've been staying lotioned up since week 7 which seems to be working.

Symptoms?  Still plenty of hybrid burb/hiccups (which I've decided to call "hiccurps" going forward), which are usually accompanied by heartburn.  Fingers and feet starting to swell on occasion now.

Sleep:  Not so great this week.  I'm starting to get up more than once to use the bathroom each night and it takes me so long to fall back asleep once I wake up.  Especially once my mind starts racing about all the organizing I want to do in the house.

Best moment this week:  Breaking it down on the dance floor at the wedding this past weekend with the hubs.  I wasn't sure how I'd feel about dancing with zero cocktails and carrying around an extra 20 l-bs, but once we got out there I forgot I was preggo and we had a blast.

Miss anything?  We got a flyer in the mail for a sushi place and it made me want to order up a couple of rainbow rolls, stat.  I guess I could get tempura or something but I figure I've made it this far, might as well wait a couple more months.

Movement:  Still moving like crazy, especially after eating.  I could actually see my belly contorting after a fun-sized bag of peanut butter m&ms (post-Halloween sale at the drug store right now: 75% off!  Holla)  The doctor said I have an anterior placenta, which would make it harder to feel movement, but that has not been the case for me at all.

Gender:  TBD.  Though last night I dreamt it was a boy, hmm.

Labor Signs:  Nope

Belly button in or out?  Maybe 20% of it is still in, but let's be honest, it's an outie.

Exercise:  Still going on a 3 mile shuffle a couple times a week.  Didn't make it to prenatal yoga yet, considering just buying a DVD to try at home.

Looking forward to:  Actually having no plans at all this weekend, which means we can get some stuff done around the house and maybe finally buy nursery furniture.  But I'm REALLY looking forward to going home to NC next week to see my fam and friends.

29 Weeks

I've seen other peeps do this and thought it's cute and a nice diary to keep, so I'm giving it a try myself.  If boring/irrelevant to you, please ignore and we won't speak of it again.

How far along?  29 weeks

Total weight gain?  +18 pounds as of 26 week appointment (I'm refusing to get on the scale between appointments)

Maternity clothes?  Mostly yes at this point.  Although a few weeks ago LOFT was having one of their 40% off everything sales sales so I bought a few of their extra long/tunic tops (like the one above).  It's hard for me to invest in clothes I'm only going to wear a few months, so I thought this could be one alternative.  I've also found that a pre-pregnancy sweater dress can work nicely as a maternity sweater.

Stretch marks?  None yet

Symptoms?  In the past, when I'd see heartburn commercials, I always wondered what that felt like and would I even know if I was having it?  Now I know, when you have it you'll know it and it feels exactly like it's name, dummy!  I also have this weird hybrid hiccup and burp.  Not cute.

Sleep:  So glad I got my nice memory foam pillow back yesterday (I left my original one behind after a vacay to Hilton Head last month).  Made a huge difference in my sleep last night, a side sleeper needs a nice sturdy pillow to keep the neck aligned properly.  Also trying to use a pillow between my legs since I found out that it can help take pressure off of my hips which get sore so easily lately.  I'm getting tired really early this week, but I'm guess that daylight savings has something to do with that.

Best moment this week:  The extremely touching and very fun Baby-Q/Shower thrown by the hub's family for us.  I have the best in-laws ever, plus my parents and sister made the trip up from NC to be there for us too.

Miss anything?  A good night's sleep.  Would love to sleep completely through the night again (I've had to get up at least once a night since about 8 weeks in), but i guess that's not happening for a while.

Movement:  this baby likes to MOVE.  It goes crazy especially after I have something to eat.  Definitely getting some kicks in the ribs these days, too.

Gender:  ???

Labor Signs:  Nope

Belly button in or out?  Looking more like an outie than an innie lately.

Looking forward to:  My first preggo wedding on Saturday, really hoping the maternity cocktail dress I bought still fits.  SPOILER ALERT:  I doesn't.  So sad...but now I know not to buy a maternity dress 3 months before an event.  Lesson learned.

Exercise:  I don't call it jogging, it's really more of a shuffle that I'm doing in my current state.  So I've been going out shuffling a few mornings a week, which is one of the pluses of daylight savings, it's light out again in the mornings.  Hoping to try some prenatal yoga next week, because childbirth class this past Sunday made labor sound like one really long Bikram class to me.

What I've been up to lately...

Yep, I've got a bun in the proverbial oven, y'all. Now that I'm in my 3rd trimester, the cat is pretty much out of the bag because let's face it, these days it's looking more like I've swallowed a bowling ball than just had a big lunch.  So that (mostly) explains my 5 month THC hiatus...I've just been working on a very big project, completion due around January 20th.
